History

UNITAL Building

Universidade Oriental Timor Lorosa'e (UNITAL) is a higher education institution established during Timor-Leste's independence, as part of the national effort to provide learning opportunities for young generations.

UNITAL began operations in 2002, with the goal of forming quality citizens who are morally responsible and contribute to national development.

Over the years, UNITAL has continued to expand its capacity, enhance academic programs, establish faculties and departments, and strengthen research cooperation, service, and community development.

Thus, UNITAL has become an important part of Timor-Leste's higher education system.

To become a leading, innovative, and national reference university, with quality in academics, research, and community service, to contribute to sustainable development in Timor-Leste.

Mission

Objectives (General and Specific)

General Objectives:

Foster individual development that provides equal opportunities, enhances human resource capacity, and contributes to Timor-Leste's national development.

Specific Objectives:

  1. Expand higher education in various relevant fields of study.
  2. Enhance research for innovation and new technologies.
  3. Participate in community service and development of Timor-Leste's social life.
  4. Enhance students' professional and moral competence in facing the real work world.
